The biggest difference between website localization (with its corresponding translation phase) and usual documents translation is that electronic content is usually very extensive and is divided into different files. The text to be translated and localized is divided into the source code, files of the source, HTML files, script or programming files and help files (like, for instance, the RTF ones). It is necessary to break these files down to translate them, and make them again to visualize and to use them again properly on the screen. The typical page with sales or advertising purposes can contain hundreds of HTML files, along with huge amount of information in one database along with the source code.

When localizing, it is very important to check the terminology homogeneity in all the components. It is also necessary to readjust the folders structure that constitute the website to adapt to the customer’s server. Moreover, name files, hidden text, images, etc., once translated, have to be readjusted, checking that everything does work properly in the translated page. Finally, cultural elements must be adapted to the target country (timetables, currencies, etc.)
